Seongsanilchulbong
(Sunrise Peak)
is a volcanic
crater on the
far eastern
end of Jeju-do.
Surrounded by
99 peaks, it
looks like an
ancient castle
when seen from
afar. A trail
up to the western
edge of the
crater, rises
sharply up the
side of the
cone. A climb
up this narrow,
steep trail
rewards the
climber with
a most spectacular
view. At hike
sunrise, from
this area, you
can enjoy fresh
abalone, shellfish
and octopus
that have been
collected by
haenyeo, Jeju-do's
famous women
divers.
