Seoul is both the capital and the heart of the Republic of Korea, containing about 10.3 million of the nation's 46.8 million people.
It is the financial, political, commercial, recreational, educational and cultural center of Korea, home to major corporations, banks, government offices, leading schools and universities, theaters and
entertainment facilities. There is a rich and satisfying variety of things to see and do for residents and visitors alike.

Seoul was a seat of government in the Baekje Kingdom, more than 1,500 years ago, but the city's true genesis occurred in 1394, when it became the capital of the new Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910).

Gangnam is a new residential, business and entertainment area located south of the Han-gang River and east of the Seoul Express Bus Terminal. It has developed as a result of Seoul's rapid expansion during the past two decades. The numerous entertainment facilities, department stores, fashion shops and deluxe hotels provide the residents of the mushrooming number of high-rise apartments with opportunities.
 


Seoul Grand Park is an expansive theme Park. The park opened in 1984 with a zoo and a dolphin show. The addition of the National Museum of Contemporary Art has added to Seoul Grand Park's popularity.

Suwon lies about one hour's drive south of Seoul. The City is well known for the Hwaseong Fortress and for Suwon galbi (broiled beef ribs). Dating back to the Joseon Dynasty, the Hwaseong Fortress is UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage list.



Korean Folk Village is a living museum that recreates the lifestyle of several centuries ago. There are potters, weavers, blacksmiths and other artisans here who practice their trades in traditional fashion. There are also 240 traditional homes and a small amphitheater for music and folk dances.

Everland is three amusement parks in one. Its Festival World has thrilling rides, a jungle safari, zoo and seasonal flower festivals. Caribbean Bay is a huge water park with wave pools and water slides. And, Speedway is where you can enjoy car racing. Everland is also the site of the Hoam Art Museum, displaying one of the finest private collections of Korean art, and Huiwon, a traditional Korean garden.

Icheon Pottery Village contains the workshops and kilns of 70 artisans as well as the Haegang Ceramics Museum. Visitors can take the opportunity to watch the production of celadon and porcelain.

Panmunjeom, located in the Demilitarized Zone between North and South Korea, highlights the tragic reality of the divided Korean Peninsula.
It was the site of the armistice negotiations which ended the Korean War in 1953 and has remained the site of ongoing peace dialogues between the South and the North. Tours to Panmmunjeom are available to foreigners only.
